Watch Your Words
by Bishop Keith A. Butler
Therefore take no thought, saying, What shall we eat? or, What shall we drink? or, Wherewithal shall we be clothed?
Jesus says here that you indicate your lack of faith by your words. Your words really do matter. When you start saying, “What am I going to eat?” or, “What am I going to drink?” or, “What am I going to wear?” then you are saying, “I don’t know if the Father is going to come through for me.” Your words reveal what is in your heart. Jesus says that whatever is in your heart in abundance is going to come out of your mouth.
When the pressure gets on you, that’s when you find out where your heart is. If you find yourself saying, “What came out of my mouth wasn’t good,” then you know you have a heart problem.
If that happens to you, don’t get upset. Satan will tell you, “You are supposed to be a person of faith, but you aren’t who you say you are.” Tell him that your words mean that you need to put some more of God’s words in your heart! Get tougher, not weaker!
Prayer for Today
Father, I embrace all you have done to strengthen and empower me to walk in your ways. I run hard after your truth and your Word and confess your love and your provision. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
